UGC from now is to treat CA, CS, CWA equal to post-graduation:- UGC has received a request from the Institute of charted accountants of India(ICAI), the institute of company secretary of India(ICSI), institute of cost accountants of India to consider the qualification presented by the–CA, CS, and CMA equivalent to post-graduation degree the UGC said in official order.
Dhiraj Khandelwal the central council member of ICAI tweeted based on representations made by ICAI, UGC approved CA, CS, CWA will be equal to post-graduation qualification.
UGC(university grants commission) on Monday (15/03/2021) announced CA, CS, CWA will be treated to equivalent to post-degree holders based on the request made by ICAI. ICAI has officially announced on Twitter handled by ICAI.
This will help professionally qualified (CA, CS, CWA) to pursue higher education and facilitate the availability of Indian CAs globally.
ICSI said the move will leverage the profession across the globe.
Benefits of being PG equivalent to CA, CS, and CMA holders
CA, CS, CMA holders can directly pursue Ph.D. or other higher degrees without a university equivalent PG degree.
CA, CS, and CMA holders need not complete university equivalent degrees or PG.
No need to complete Mcom or Mphil for pursuing a Ph.D.
CA, CS, and CMA professional degree holders can directly appear for NET/SET without a university PG degree.
Can apply for PG or higher courses in a foreign university.
Holder of above mentioned professional degrees can apply for equivalence exam to pursue a career abroad.

ICSI president CS Nagendra Rao recognition will open up another world of opportunity for CS professional degree holders this recognition will give an opportunity for ICSI members for pursuing a Ph.D. in commerce and allied professions.
